When I started out as a graphic designer, I made hundreds of logos, stickers, album covers, posters, and shirts to support DJ culture. I also co-produced a quarterly zine that highlighted the talented underground music artists of Detroit. It honed my ability to craft, work with typography, and gave me the freedom to explore weird new things. Well—I’m still exploring and I still enjoy getting into the details on line work. Although my projects are a lot more conservative now, my funky foundation still peeks out now and again.

Being an early adopter, I have been dabbling with Generative AI since public inception.
My experiments use readily available tools in stylistic ways that vary from typical results.

AI ASSISTED PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
MIDJOURNEY / MICROSOFT DESIGNER / CHATGPT / WRITING / ILLUSTRATION
I was curious how helpful AI would be in developing a tangible product. I’ve always been a gamer, so I chose to merge early passions with new, and create a Dungeons & Dragons module compatible with Old School Essentials and B/X rule sets.
I used AI to initiate a project outline, spark potential storylines, inspire plot/setting details, and generate base illustrations. Much customization was needed, but AI did prove a useful tool for building both concept and structure.

DESIGN / ILLUSTRATION
I have always been drawn to letterforms and I’ve crafted many logos and spot illustrations over the years.
I design everything in black and white first, as these types of graphics have to be recognizable in their most basic state.

ILLUSTRATION / LAYOUT / PRODUCTION
Growing up I witnessed the dawn of House and Techno in Detroit. As a teenager, I learned to spin and put my drawing skills to work on grassroots promotion of parties.
Many of my friends now play stadiums and are known across the globe. Crazy to think how we all worked together with virtually nothing, and helped launch a new genre in music history.

PHOTOGRAPHY / ILLUSTRATION
After doing a number of photographic portraits, I decided to take a break from the camera and play with turning my images into digital paintings.
Stacking my skillsets was fun and it helped me creatively reset with a much needed reprieve from routine.

Samples of creatures and cutie pies that I have dreamed up.
At one point they were to be made into toys, but unfortunately the project stalled.

Reading stimulates imagination. So using classic literature as my framework, I designed a number
of posters as a creative way to exercise my drawing and typography skills.
